European regulatory framework for financial markets

The Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID) is the cornerstone of the European regulatory framework for financial markets. Its aim is to protect investors and the integrity of financial markets and to promote fair, transparent, efficient and integrated financial markets.

MiFID II entered into force on 3 January 2018. MiFID II introduces new reporting requirements and tests, enhanced organisational requirements for investment firms and trading platforms and stricter investor protection rules.

Expertise

The HVG Law team is highly experienced in advising clients on a wide range of MiFID II-related issues, from behavioural and organisational rules for investment firms, such as product governance requirements, inducements, best execution and information and reporting to clients, to authorisation requirements for regulated markets and rules on the access of financial products to trade.

Recently, we assisted clients, for example, in carrying out MiFID II gap analyses and in (re)writing and implementing policies and procedures.

"We always have top of mind how we add value for the client."
