Background

In October 2026, Skip joined HVG Law’s Public & Private team, where he advises (semi-)public institutions and regulated businesses on legal matters at the intersection of government and the market.

Prior to joining HVG Law, Skip worked at the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) and PwC Legal.

Expertise

Skip specialises in public funding and State aid law, with a particular focus on the legal framework governing public-sector financing and investments. He also advises on competition law, the Foreign Subsidies Regulation (FSR), foreign direct investment (FDI) screening, and broader market regulation issues.

Drawing on his experience working both within and alongside the public sector, Skip understands the broader societal context and political sensitivities that often shape legal and regulatory decision-making. He incorporates these considerations into his legal advice to help clients navigate complex public-private challenges.

Additional information

Skip graduated from Utrecht University in 2014 with a degree in Law & Economics. In 2023, he completed the postgraduate specialisation programme in Competition Law at the Grotius Academy.

Skip is co-author of State Aid in Times of Crisis (Wolters Kluwer, 2021), teaches State aid law, and is a member of the Dutch State Aid Law Association.
