HVG Law has assisted the Wid­ows and Orphans Devel­op­ment Found­a­tion in apply­ing for ANBI status with the Dutch Tax Author­it­ies. This found­a­tion is self­lessly com­mit­ted to the rights of wid­ows and orphans in Africa (mainly in Tan­zania).

About Wid­ows and Orphans Devel­op­ment Found­a­tion
Wid­ows and Orphans Devel­op­ment Found­a­tion was estab­lished at the end of 2020 as a found­a­tion with the aim of improv­ing the social, eco­nom­ic and leg­al pos­i­tion of wid­ows in Tan­zania.

She is com­mit­ted to the pos­i­tion of wid­ows and their chil­dren, among oth­er things by rolling out pro­grams to improve eco­nom­ic and social inde­pend­ence, rais­ing aware­ness about human rights and draw­ing atten­tion to the prob­lems of wid­ows and their chil­dren at nation­al level. and loc­al author­it­ies. The found­a­tion is com­pletely depend­ent on dona­tions to carry out its activ­it­ies. Obtain­ing ANBI status is an import­ant step in this regard, because this entails tax bene­fits for the found­a­tion itself as well as for its spon­sors.

About the col­lab­or­a­tion with HVG Law, Ms Jam­ila Sulu (chair­man of the found­a­tion) notes the fol­low­ing:

About the pro bono activ­it­ies of HVG Law
HVG Law is a found­ing mem­ber of Pro Bono Con­nect. Pro Bono Con­nect medi­ates between Dutch civil soci­ety organ­iz­a­tions that need leg­al help and lead­ing law firms that want to provide free leg­al advice. With­in HVG Law, sev­en law­yers form the pro bono com­mit­tee. They assess applic­a­tions from Pro Bono Con­nect and – when an applic­a­tion is accep­ted – advise the civil soci­ety organ­iz­a­tions on their spe­cif­ic request for help. The request from Wid­ows and Orphans Devel­op­ment Found­a­tion also came in via Pro Bono Con­nect.
