Expertise

Sjoerd advises on matters related to privacy, IP and AI. He has experience in drafting and reviewing various documents in the fields of privacy, IP, and platform regulation, such as privacy statements, IP transfer agreements, and transparency reports.

In addition, he performs various due diligence tasks related to privacy, IP, and IT within M&A projects.

Additional information

Sjoerd obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Law and a minor in Law, Innovation & Technology from Utrecht University.

He then pursued a Master’s in Internet, Intellectual Property, and IT at VU University of Amsterdam, where he graduated in April 2025. In his master’s thesis, he researched the transparency obligation for deployers of deepfake systems under the Artificial Intelligence Act (AI Act), and the expected effectiveness of this obligation in preventing deception through malicious use of deepfake technology.
